The AirPod intercom, one of Trump’s campaign promises, may not be coming to fruition.
The company announced Tuesday that the device is in production for the first time and will be available in the first quarter of 2019, but it is not yet clear when it will hit the market.
“As with any product, the AirPod product development process will continue to evolve, but at this time, the company cannot confirm when the AirPods product will be released and if it will be sold or sold as a preorder,” a company representative told TechCrunch.
“As such, we do not provide additional details on when and where the Airporns product will launch or the availability of the product.”
Apple and AirPod have been working on a smartphone version for years, but the company said the AirPad and AirPorn devices are not expected to ship until 2020, when the company’s iPhone is expected to come out.
Apple is also expected to unveil its own Bluetooth earbuds in the next few weeks.
